Excise duty online
Excise duty exemption for relocation goods
Moving to Poland permanently? A car imported as relocation goods can be exempt from excise duty — if you meet the conditions and file the WZZA application correctly.
What do you need to know about the exemption?
The relocation goods exemption is not granted automatically — you must meet the conditions and submit an application:
Exemption conditions
At least 12 months of permanent residence outside the EU before the move and ownership of the vehicle for at least 6 months.
Required documents
Registration certificate, documents confirming residence abroad and proof of purchase of the vehicle — a contract or invoice.
The WZZA procedure
The exemption requires filing a WZZA application with the appropriate tax office before the first registration of the vehicle in Poland.
Most common mistakes
Missing residence certificates, too short a period of vehicle ownership, or selling the car within 12 months of import.

What documents are needed?
Registration certificate, documents confirming residence abroad (e.g. a residence certificate, employment contract, bills) and proof of purchase of the vehicle.
