Excise duty online
Excise duty for a motorcycle — rates and exemptions
Motorcycles imported from abroad are also subject to excise duty — but not all of them. We will check whether your motorcycle is exempt, calculate the amount due and file the AKC-US declaration online.
When is a motorcycle subject to excise duty?
The excise obligation depends primarily on engine capacity and drive type:
Motorcycles up to 250 cm³
Motorcycles with an engine capacity of up to 250 cm³ are exempt from excise duty — you register them without an AKC-US declaration.
Motorcycles above 250 cm³
Larger motorcycles are taxed at 3.1% (up to 2000 cm³) or 18.6% (above 2000 cm³) of the vehicle value.
Electric motorcycles
Electric motorcycles are exempt from excise duty regardless of power — including those imported from the USA.
